VT Markets has introduced a round-the-clock gold CFD product under the symbol XAUUSD247, joining a wave of retail brokers and institutional liquidity providers rolling out weekend trading on precious metals. The product is accessible via MetaTrader 5 and the broker’s proprietary app for eligible clients, using a one-ounce contract size compared to the standard 100-ounce benchmark.

Leverage starts at 100:1 and adjusts downward as position size increases, with tiered exposure limits set at 1,000 lots net and 2,000 lots gross before accounts enter close-only mode. Weekday spreads begin at 15 points while weekend spreads widen to 40 points, though the broker’s product page separately lists a 20-point spread without clarification. Overnight financing still applies despite continuous trading availability. Single-sided margin applies to hedged positions, reducing capital requirements when clients hold offsetting long and short exposures.

The launch follows similar introductions from Vantage in July 2024 and earlier moves by LMAX Group, Scope Prime, and CMC Markets throughout early 2026. The product expansion reflects growing retail demand for exposure outside traditional market hours, particularly in volatile instruments like gold. For brokers, 24/7 products raise operational considerations around liquidity sourcing, spread management during thin weekend sessions, and risk controls for positions held across conventional settlement breaks.

FXnCO Insight

Brokers deploying weekend instruments must ensure liquidity arrangements and margin policies adequately cover gap risk and execution quality during off-market hours when institutional depth thins materially.
