MetaQuotes has launched a new hosting location in Amsterdam for MetaTrader 5 backup servers, giving retail brokers another option for building geographically redundant trading infrastructure. The move follows the company’s stated investment of millions in global server capacity, with existing hosting hubs in London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo.

The Amsterdam facility enables brokers to deploy backup servers in a separate jurisdiction from their primary operations, reducing exposure to single points of failure at the data centre, network, or regional level. MetaQuotes highlighted that a backup server continuously synchronises with the main trading system and can assume control during critical failures, helping firms maintain platform uptime and operational continuity.

For brokers, the expanded hosting network addresses growing regulatory and commercial pressure to demonstrate robust business continuity planning. Many jurisdictions now expect licensed firms to maintain resilient systems that minimise disruption to client trading. Geographic separation of primary and backup infrastructure is widely considered best practice for fault-tolerant system design.

Amsterdam’s position as a major European financial and network hub offers connectivity advantages for brokers serving European clients or accessing liquidity from the region. The hosting option arrives alongside broader product developments from MetaQuotes, including volume-based pricing for its Ultency liquidity bridge and the launch of a financial information portal.

Brokers building or reviewing disaster recovery plans should evaluate whether geographic server redundancy aligns with their regulatory obligations and commercial risk appetite, particularly where continuity requirements are explicit in licensing conditions.
