US prediction market operator Kalshi has rolled out a professional trading terminal as it continues repositioning from retail novelty to institutional derivatives venue. The new interface targets active traders, hedge funds and proprietary desks with advanced order routing, live trade feeds, expanded order book data and multi-leg position management across its growing suite of CFTC-regulated products.

The timing reflects Kalshi’s operational momentum. Annualised trading volume has reached $178 billion, triple the level recorded a year earlier, with institutional participants now driving a substantial portion of activity. Many of these sophisticated users previously accessed Kalshi via API or custom-built tools but lacked a standardised professional interface. The launch of Kalshi Pro fills that gap and complements existing infrastructure including hedge fund clearing provided through Clear Street.

Kalshi’s institutional pivot accelerated following its entry into CFTC-regulated perpetual futures, including onshore crypto products that surpassed $1 billion in volume during their first week. The company is now competing in regulated derivatives space traditionally dominated by CME and Cboe, though its focus remains on prediction markets and newer product categories rather than conventional equity or index futures.

For brokers and fintech operators, Kalshi’s trajectory illustrates how platforms can scale from niche retail offerings into regulated institutional infrastructure by securing appropriate licences, building clearing partnerships and investing in front-end execution technology. The evolution also signals intensifying competition in onshore regulated derivatives, particularly around crypto and alternative underliers.

Institutional credibility in derivatives depends not only on regulatory status but on delivering the execution infrastructure and clearing arrangements that professional traders demand as table stakes.
