Trade Nation has appointed Karman Wong as Commercial Director for Emerging Markets, according to recent industry reports. Wong is departing IG Group after more than thirteen years, where she most recently led emerging markets across the APAC region since 2020. Her background includes extensive experience managing client relationships in Greater China, including a two-year stint in IG’s Shanghai office and subsequent roles focused on mainland Chinese business development from Melbourne.

The appointment signals a strategic push by Trade Nation to expand beyond its current Australia-centric footprint. Operating under ASIC licence AFSL 422661 through its Australian entity, Trade Nation primarily serves retail CFD and FX traders with a fixed-spread model, contrasting with IG’s broader multi-asset platform. Wong’s specialisation in sourcing and managing emerging market flow appears designed to address this geographic concentration and tap new client segments that align with Trade Nation’s existing Australian retail base.

The hire reinforces a broader recruitment pattern at Trade Nation drawing heavily from IG Group’s senior ranks. CEO Jon Noble previously worked at IG, while Kypros Zoumidou joined as Managing Director in late 2024 after serving as CEO of Capital.com and earlier roles at IG. Wong represents the fourth senior IG alumnus to join Trade Nation’s leadership within approximately twelve months, suggesting a deliberate strategy to import institutional knowledge and market relationships from a larger competitor.

Brokers seeking emerging market penetration increasingly recognise that specialist commercial hires with established regional networks deliver faster client acquisition than building distribution capabilities organically.
