Nick Xydas has departed EC Markets after approximately two and a half years serving as Group Marketing Director at the FX and CFD brokerage. The Cyprus-based executive announced his exit via LinkedIn without disclosing his next role or naming a successor to lead the firm’s global marketing operations.
During his tenure, Xydas built EC Markets’ marketing infrastructure from minimal global presence to an established international team with dedicated office facilities. His most prominent achievement was securing a multi-year partnership with Liverpool Football Club in 2025, positioning EC Markets as the Premier League club’s Official Global Partner. This formed the centrepiece of a sponsorship-driven brand strategy designed to enhance market credibility and facilitate entry into new jurisdictions.
EC Markets recently appointed Nicholas McGregor, formerly of eToro, as Sponsorship and Partnerships Manager to handle day-to-day activation of the Liverpool deal and other sponsorship initiatives. However, the broker has not announced who will assume Xydas’ broader strategic marketing responsibilities, leaving uncertainty around the leadership of its brand expansion efforts.
Xydas brings two decades of financial services marketing experience spanning brokerages including FXGT and Eurotrader, alongside roles at technology and corporate services firms. His departure raises questions about continuity in EC Markets’ international growth strategy at a time when competitive pressures and regulatory scrutiny demand consistent brand positioning and compliant marketing practices across multiple licensing jurisdictions.
