The Australian Dollar has regained footing against the US Dollar after a brief dip, according to United Overseas Bank currency strategists Quek Ser Leang and Lee Sue Ann. The AUD/USD pair dropped to 0.7122 before staging a sharp recovery to 0.7176, with current trading confined to a tight 0.7140 to 0.7180 band.
UOB analysts note that downward momentum in the pair is clearly weakening, suggesting the recent pullback may be exhausted. The strategists identify 0.7190 as a critical breakout level, stating that a move above this threshold would effectively take the 0.7120 support zone off the table and confirm renewed bullish momentum. This consolidation follows a period of volatility and indicates the Aussie dollar is positioning for a potential move toward the 0.7200 psychological resistance level.
FXnCO Insight
Forex traders should monitor 0.7190 as the key trigger level for long AUD/USD positions, with downside risk appearing increasingly limited below 0.7140.
