Apex Group has appointed Nick Tomadakis as chief product officer effective Thursday, marking the second hire for this position in just 20 months. The announcement comes without explanation regarding the status of Zion Hilelly, who was appointed to the same role in January 2025 after two decades at BlackRock. Tomadakis joins from DCM Systems, where he served as chief product and growth officer developing blockchain payment infrastructure, and brings prior experience from Revolut, Barclays, and Visa Europe.
The leadership change arrives as Apex manages products servicing over $3.5 trillion in assets and races toward a June 2027 deadline to tokenize $100 billion in assets. Neither Tomadakis nor Hilelly’s LinkedIn profiles reflected the change at press time, and Apex has not responded to requests for clarification about the unusual succession. Tomadakis will report directly to founder and CEO Peter Hughes.
