FP Markets has appointed Haris Sergiou as Global Head of Business Development, less than nine months after naming Elias Aaraj to the identical position in December 2024. Aaraj departed in July without public explanation, according to his LinkedIn profile. The Australian CFD broker confirmed Sergiou will lead worldwide business development strategy as the firm pushes into new markets.

Sergiou arrives from Doo Group, where he served as Business Development Director in Dubai since January 2024, managing sales teams across MENA and key Asian markets including Japan, India, and the Philippines. His appointment signals a potential strategic pivot toward these regions, contrasting with Aaraj’s background at European-focused firms like Tickmill and Saxo Bank.

The leadership change coincides with broader restructuring at FP Markets. The company disclosed in April that organizational reviews impacted under seven percent of global staff, with certain roles consolidated. Management emphasized expansion plans for emerging markets and enhanced fintech offerings throughout 2025.

The rapid turnover in this senior role suggests internal strategic disagreements or accelerated regional repositioning, warranting closer monitoring of FP Markets’ MENA and Asian partnership announcements.
