Crypto.com has appointed Stelios Moyseos as Executive Director of its Cyprus operations, bringing in a compliance veteran as the exchange expands its European regulatory footprint. Moyseos previously served as Chief Compliance and AML Officer at retail broker BDSwiss and has experience working directly with CySEC, Cyprus’s financial regulator.
The appointment follows Crypto.com’s 2025 acquisition of CySEC-regulated A.N. Allnew Investments, which operated LegacyFX. This deal secured a Cyprus Investment Firm license under MiFID, enabling the platform to offer traditional derivatives across the European Union. The move reflects a broader industry shift as major crypto exchanges including Coinbase and Kraken pursue Cyprus licenses through broker acquisitions to diversify beyond digital assets.
The strategic pivot comes as crypto markets face continued headwinds in 2026, with notable platforms like BitMEX shutting down derivatives operations. Hiring seasoned regulatory specialists signals these platforms are prioritizing compliance infrastructure as they branch into traditional multi-asset trading to stabilize revenue streams.
FXnCO Insight
Crypto exchanges acquiring EU-regulated licenses and hiring compliance veterans indicates a defensive shift toward traditional derivatives as pure crypto revenue becomes increasingly unreliable.
