BMLL Technologies has appointed Brad Hunt as chairman nine months after private equity firm Nordic Capital acquired the London-based market data company. Hunt, who led Rimes Technologies through its sale to Rothschild & Co’s Five Arrows in 2024, replaces Lee Hodgkinson, who remains on the board as an independent director.

The board reshuffle comes as BMLL navigates life under new ownership. Nordic Capital holds two seats through principal David Samuelsen and managing director Dan Rosenberg. Amsterdam market maker Optiver maintains significant influence through board representation via Rambutan Capital’s Hilde Kaemingk. Optiver previously led a $21 million investment in October 2024 and participated in Nordic Capital’s acquisition, making it simultaneously a shareholder, board member, and customer.

BMLL also added Spiros Giannaros as a US-based independent director. The company raised approximately $83 million before the buyout from investors including Optiver, Nasdaq Ventures, and FactSet, though Nordic Capital has not disclosed the acquisition price.

** Hunt’s track record executing data firm exits signals Nordic Capital may be positioning BMLL for eventual sale or consolidation within the increasingly competitive market data sector.
