BitMart has announced an immediate shutdown of trading operations, adding to a growing wave of crypto exchange closures in mid-2026. The platform suspended new registrations and deposits on July 26, with all spot and futures trading set to cease at 01:00 UTC on August 26. Users have one month to close positions, while withdrawals remain available until January 31, 2027, subject to enhanced compliance checks.
The exchange’s native BMX token plummeted 60% within 24 hours of the announcement. BitMart joins BitMEX and EXMO.com in exiting the market this quarter, with BitMEX citing strategic review ahead of its September 23 closure and EXMO facing UK sanctions. Multi-asset broker BDSwiss has also halted new client onboarding for its offshore operations.
The cluster of shutdowns reflects mounting pressure on mid-tier trading venues struggling against dominant exchanges and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.

Traders holding positions or assets on smaller offshore exchanges should immediately assess counterparty risk and consider migrating to tier-one platforms before liquidity windows close.
