Four MiCA-licensed crypto exchanges launched aggressive customer acquisition campaigns targeting European Economic Area users in late June, coinciding with the 1 July transitional deadline that barred unlicensed platforms like Binance from onboarding new EEA customers. Kraken initiated a million-euro prize draw running through 31 July, with deposits earning entries. Bybit EU followed with tiered cashback reaching three percent annually on deposits above fifty thousand dollars. OKX announced an eight percent deposit bonus capped at twenty thousand euros, paid over fifty-two weeks, while Coinbase offered five percent bonuses tied to paid subscriptions across eight European markets.
The campaigns represent a calculated land grab as regulated exchanges compete for market share freed up by unlicensed competitors losing access. Trading volumes and client flows at these licensed platforms are expected to surge through July as displaced users migrate funds to compliant venues.
