Institutional FX trading volumes climbed across major global venues in June, with daily activity rising between six and nine percent from May levels. Cboe FX recorded average daily volumes of $59.63 billion, up 8.7 percent, while FXSpotStream posted $160.05 billion daily, a 7.9 percent increase. Euronext FX and 360T saw gains of 8.8 percent and 6.4 percent respectively. While June contained 22 trading days versus 21 in May, the per-day improvements signal genuine momentum rather than calendar effects. The uptick extends a pattern of robust institutional activity through most of 2026, following a January surge driven by renewed dollar volatility. Cboe’s daily pace remains below its January peak of $63.3 billion, but FXSpotStream has surpassed its early-year levels. The gains mark a continued recovery from the subdued volatility period of mid-2025 that pushed multiple platforms to multi-month lows.

Traders should monitor whether this institutional momentum sustains through summer months, traditionally a period of reduced liquidity and volatility.
