Kraken has plugged its institutional trading arm Kraken Prime directly into Trever, a back-office platform used by major European banks and brokers, allowing them to execute and settle crypto trades without overhauling existing systems. The integration went live June 30, 2026, and gives institutions access to over 90 percent of digital asset liquidity plus qualified custody through a single connection point spanning more than 20 global venues.
The move addresses a critical pain point for European financial firms that traditionally juggle separate providers for execution, custody, and reconciliation, creating operational risk and compliance headaches. With MiCA regulations raising governance and reporting standards across the EU, Kraken’s strategy positions it as infrastructure rather than just an exchange. The company has recently secured a MiCA licence from Ireland’s central bank and received a $200 million investment from Deutsche Börse, reinforcing its regulated institutional push.
