Trading Technologies has expanded its TT Trade Surveillance platform with a Market Replay function and upgraded case management tools, offering compliance teams enhanced capabilities for investigating potential market abuse across futures, equities, FX, fixed income and cryptocurrencies. The surveillance system, first launched in 2024, now serves over 100 firms globally.
The Market Replay feature enables users to reconstruct historical trading activity over 90 days with tick-by-tick and frame-by-frame order book playback, allowing investigators to examine market conditions during specific compliance cases. The upgrade also includes a cloud-based case management interface designed to streamline collaboration throughout the investigation lifecycle, from alert identification to resolution.
The platform integrates pre-configured surveillance models with customisable rules aimed at reducing false positives, a persistent challenge for compliance departments managing alert volumes. Notably, it employs machine learning to detect potential spoofing by assigning risk scores based on similarity to previous regulatory enforcement actions, helping teams prioritise alerts requiring deeper scrutiny.
TT Trade Surveillance can ingest data from external systems through multiple formats including flat files and FIX drop copies, supporting multi-venue and multi-asset surveillance operations. This capability is increasingly relevant as regulators worldwide intensify scrutiny of cross-market manipulation and abuse patterns.
For brokers and exchanges managing regulatory obligations across jurisdictions, robust surveillance infrastructure is becoming a competitive necessity rather than simply a compliance requirement, particularly as authorities deploy increasingly sophisticated detection methods themselves.
FXnCO Insight
Firms relying solely on basic rule-based surveillance should evaluate whether their current systems can adequately detect sophisticated manipulation tactics now visible to regulators using machine learning and historical pattern matching.
