eToro has integrated Singapore’s national digital identity system Singpass into its client onboarding process, enabling retail traders to verify accounts without uploading physical documentation. The move follows the platform’s July 2025 entry into Singapore under a Capital Markets Services licence issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. That authorisation permits eToro to offer stocks from over twenty global exchanges, exchange-traded funds, and derivative instruments to retail clients in the city-state.
The Singpass integration allows users to authenticate identity through the government-backed platform, with personal data transferred directly upon consent. This streamlines the know-your-customer process and reduces friction during account opening, a competitive advantage in jurisdictions where regtech adoption is accelerating. Singapore’s Singpass infrastructure is widely trusted and already deployed across both public sector and private commercial services.
Beyond operational updates in Singapore, eToro’s leadership confirmed the company is exploring acquisition targets in the wealth-tech sector, with active discussions involving two firms including one based in the United States. The broker is also examining potential expansion into payment services and has indicated long-term interest in pursuing banking licences, though no concrete timelines have been disclosed.
The developments underscore eToro’s strategic pivot toward regulated market expansion and diversified revenue streams following its public listing.
