IG Group’s Australian division has launched direct ChatGPT integration for its trading platform through a Model Context Protocol server, now available in the ChatGPT App Store. The CFD Assistant allows traders to query real-time account data including open positions, profit and loss statements, watchlists, market sentiment, and historical pricing through conversational AI commands. Claude integration is reportedly coming soon.
The integration operates in strict read-only mode, preventing order placement or position modifications through the AI interface. Traders can access live bid-ask spreads, margin requirements, client sentiment data, account activity logs, and portfolio metrics, but payment details and identity documents remain protected. The feature appears limited exclusively to Australian clients currently, though the ChatGPT store listing is visible internationally.
IG joins eToro and cTrader’s Spotware in the emerging broker MCP trend, though competitors like eToro already offer more advanced “Agent Portfolios” with execution capabilities.
