Spotware rolled out cTrader CLI on Thursday, giving algorithmic traders command-line access to accounts, automated bots, backtesting tools and market data without the graphical interface. The release enables third-party AI applications including Claude Code, Cursor and Gemini CLI to convert natural-language instructions into executable trading commands, while users can also script operations directly.

The tool runs on Windows or Linux infrastructure and supports multiple accounts from a single setup. Traders can launch cBots as background processes that persist after closing the desktop app, run backtests using historical or custom datasets, and export reports in HTML or JSON for AI review. Compatibility begins with cTrader 4.8 and .NET 6 algorithms.

The launch follows Spotware’s cTrader AI Agent Connect in May and comes as MetaQuotes and ThinkMarkets deploy competing AI-driven trading frameworks. All three platforms now use Model Context Protocol servers to bridge AI tools and live trading environments.

Algo traders should evaluate whether moving recurring automation tasks to command-line infrastructure reduces latency and operational overhead compared to GUI-based execution.
