# BREAKING: Nubank Secures Full Banking License in Mexico

Brazilian fintech giant Nubank has obtained final regulatory approval from Mexican authorities to operate as a full-service bank, marking a significant expansion milestone for Latin America’s largest digital bank. The authorization allows Nubank to offer comprehensive banking services in Mexico, the region’s second-largest economy, beyond its previous limited fintech operations.

The move positions Nubank to directly compete with traditional Mexican banks and other digital challengers in a market of approximately 130 million people, where financial inclusion remains relatively low. This regulatory green light comes as Nubank continues its aggressive regional expansion strategy following its 2021 NYSE listing.

Mexican consumers will gain access to Nubank’s zero-fee banking products, while existing Mexican financial institutions face heightened competitive pressure from a well-capitalized challenger backed by proven technology infrastructure. The approval could accelerate digital banking adoption across Mexico’s underbanked population.
