Nordic Capital has struck a deal to acquire embedded finance platform Liberis and will merge it with existing portfolio company Qred, a European digital small business bank, to create a combined SMB financing platform. The financial terms were not disclosed in today’s announcement.
Liberis operates a global embedded finance infrastructure that enables merchants and platforms to access capital through integrated lending solutions. Qred provides digital banking services across multiple European markets focused on small business clients. The merger aims to consolidate capabilities in the fragmented small business lending sector, creating a larger player with both embedded finance technology and direct banking services.
The transaction signals continued private equity appetite for fintech consolidation plays, particularly in the B2B lending space where scale and technology integration remain key competitive advantages. Nordic Capital’s strategy appears focused on building a pan-European SMB financial services champion through strategic bolt-on acquisitions.
