Latvian fintech Nodu has secured dual regulatory approval from the Bank of Latvia, obtaining both a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider licence and a payment institution licence. The stablecoin payment infrastructure company becomes one of the first firms to receive the new EU-wide MiCA authorization, which came into force in December 2024. The dual licensing enables Nodu to operate crypto-asset services across all European Union member states while simultaneously processing traditional payment services under a single regulatory framework.
The approval positions Nodu to bridge stablecoin and conventional payment rails throughout the EU market. Financial institutions and payment service providers partnering with Nodu can now access regulated stablecoin infrastructure alongside standard payment processing capabilities. The timing proves strategic as MiCA’s stablecoin provisions recently took effect, creating demand for compliant service providers that can navigate both crypto and traditional finance regulations.
FXnCO Insight
Traders and payment firms seeking EU-compliant stablecoin exposure should monitor Nodu’s infrastructure offerings as MiCA-licensed providers remain scarce in early 2025, potentially creating partnership and liquidity opportunities.
