NinjaTrader Group announced Tuesday the creation of a chief innovation and AI officer position, appointing Brian Weis from his previous role as chief product officer. Weis will oversee AI agent development, Model Context Protocol infrastructure, and prediction markets strategy. The move comes nine months after crypto exchange Kraken acquired the Chicago futures broker for $1.5 billion in May 2025, integrating it into PINC Group.

The appointment underscores NinjaTrader’s strategic pivot toward regulated prediction markets, which generated $44 billion in trading volume during 2025. The firm launched NinjaTrader Connect in March, a B2B API platform enabling brokers and fintechs to offer regulated futures and prediction markets. This positions the company against rivals like Devexperts, Tradeweb, and institutional players including Clear Street and Marex. NinjaTrader’s existing CFTC registration and NFA membership provide a regulatory advantage competitors would require years to replicate. Stephen Yi joins as the new chief product officer from digital consultancy Codal.

Kraken-backed NinjaTrader’s regulatory infrastructure could accelerate institutional and retail access to prediction markets faster than unregistered competitors can build compliance frameworks.
