Bank J. Safra Sarasin has moved to acquire full ownership of Saxo Bank after exercising a call option to purchase founder Kim Fournais’ remaining 28.69% indirect stake in Saxo Holding AG. The move follows the Swiss banking group’s March 2025 acquisition of over 70% of the online trading platform from Geely, Mandatum and other shareholders. Fournais will stay on as Chairman of Saxo Bank’s Board of Directors following the transaction.

The deal is pending regulatory approval and comes as Saxo Bank prepares to announce record first-half 2026 financial results driven by rising client numbers and assets under management. Saxo will continue operating as a separate entity under full J. Safra Sarasin ownership while gaining enhanced financial backing for expansion. The completion establishes a simplified ownership structure with operational continuity for clients, partners and employees across Saxo’s trading and investment platform.
