The Indian Rupee is receiving temporary support from robust dollar inflows tied to special Reserve Bank of India measures, according to OCBC currency analyst Christopher Wong. These foreign-currency inflows have provided a buffer for the INR while simultaneously strengthening the central bank’s foreign exchange reserves. However, Wong cautions that this positive momentum may prove short-lived as the impulse behind these inflows could fade in the near term.

The RBI’s special measures appear designed to attract foreign capital and stabilize the rupee amid broader emerging market currency pressures. While the immediate effect has been constructive for INR positioning, traders should prepare for potential volatility as the support mechanism loses steam. The strengthened FX reserves give the central bank more ammunition for currency intervention if needed, though the sustainability of current levels remains questionable without continued inflows.

Traders should consider taking profits on long INR positions and prepare for renewed downside pressure as RBI-driven inflow support likely proves temporary rather than structural.
