Intercontinental Exchange has partnered with blockchain infrastructure firm tZERO to develop its NYSE-affiliated Digital Trading Platform for tokenized securities. The memorandum of understanding, signed August 31, positions tZERO as a design partner for digital transfer agent and broker-dealer infrastructure supporting on-chain trading and settlement. tZERO will help build systems for ownership records, transfer processing, and post-trade workflows, though the platform still requires regulatory approval before launch.
This follows ICE’s March partnership with Securitize for similar services. The Digital Trading Platform, first announced in January, aims to enable round-the-clock trading and near-instant settlement of tokenized US equities and ETFs using stablecoin-based funding. ICE is also investing in tZERO’s latest financing round and acquiring licenses to 103 patents across 23 families covering blockchain transfer logic and smart contract frameworks. tZERO’s formal designation as an approved transfer agent remains conditional on meeting ICE’s regulatory and operational requirements.
