The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed prediction market operator Kalshi as a sponsor, creating friction with their long-standing casino partner. Kalshi branding appeared on digital outfield boards and behind home plate at Dodger Stadium during August 2026 games, according to Sportico and broadcast footage. The deal puts Kalshi alongside Yaamava’ Resort and Casino, owned by the San Manuel Nation, which has served as the Dodgers’ official California casino partner since 2007.
San Manuel has aggressively opposed prediction markets, spending approximately $103 million fighting a 2022 sports betting ballot initiative and arguing that platforms like Kalshi violate tribal gaming sovereignty under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The tribe contends these products constitute unregulated Class III gambling disguised as CFTC-supervised financial contracts.
Major League Baseball already navigates similar tensions, maintaining separate sponsorship categories for FanDuel as a sports betting partner and Polymarket as a prediction market exchange. The American Gaming Association has warned leagues against such arrangements, calling prediction market platforms insufficiently regulated.
