United Overseas Bank strategist Quek Ser Leang reports the Chinese offshore yuan is trading sideways against the US Dollar as momentum eases following recent Dollar strength. The USD/CNH pair is currently trapped in a tight intraday range between 6.7800 and 6.7930, with UOB forecasting continued range-bound behavior over the next one to three weeks.

The Singapore-based bank expects the currency pair to oscillate between 6.7750 on the downside and 6.8080 on the upside as earlier US Dollar gains have dissipated. This consolidation pattern suggests neither bulls nor bears have sufficient conviction to break out of the established technical boundaries. The sideways trading reflects a temporary equilibrium in US-China economic dynamics and diminished directional pressure on the greenback.

Traders should anticipate low volatility conditions with the yuan remaining stable within this approximately 300-pip corridor through mid-to-late month.

Range traders should position for mean reversion plays within the 6.7750–6.8080 band while avoiding breakout strategies until momentum indicators signal a directional shift.
