The Chinese yuan is holding steady in narrow range trading against the US dollar after recent weakness dissipated, according to United Overseas Bank currency strategist Quek Ser Leang. The USD/CNH pair has been consolidating following a dip to 6.7865, with Tuesday’s session seeing prices swing between 6.7911 and 6.8025 before settling at 6.7948. UOB expects the pair to remain range-bound in the near term, projecting intraday movement between 6.7860 and 6.7990.

This stabilization comes as traders assess China’s economic outlook amid ongoing stimulus measures and broader global currency dynamics. The constrained trading pattern suggests markets are waiting for fresh catalysts before establishing a clear directional bias. Currency traders and firms with yuan exposure should monitor whether the pair breaks above or below the established range, which would signal renewed momentum.

Traders should watch for a breakout beyond the 6.7860–6.7990 band to identify the next directional move in USD/CNH, while range traders can capitalize on the current consolidation pattern.
