Brent crude prices jumped initially following reports of an Iranian attack on a cargo vessel near Oman and the subsequent suspension of United Nations escort operations in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Danske Bank’s research team. The geopolitical flashpoint raised immediate concerns about supply disruptions through one of the world’s most critical oil chokepoints, which handles roughly one-fifth of global petroleum traffic.
However, the initial price spike proved short-lived as market fundamentals reasserted themselves. Danske analysts indicate that strong physical oil flows and adequate supply levels are currently offsetting the geopolitical risk premium. The market appears to be weighing immediate supply concerns against broader demand outlook and existing inventory cushions.
Traders should monitor developments in the Strait of Hormuz closely, as any escalation could quickly reverse current price dynamics despite the bearish supply picture.

Energy traders should maintain tight stops on Brent positions as geopolitical risk premiums remain volatile and could spike rapidly if Iranian tensions escalate further or shipping disruptions materialize.
