BMLL has appointed Michael Chiappinelli as Chief Revenue Officer to lead global sales following its acquisition by Nordic Capital last October. Chiappinelli, a US-based data veteran, will report directly to CEO Paul Humphrey and oversee the company’s entire international sales operation as it accelerates expansion under private equity ownership.

The appointment caps a months-long hiring spree that included regional sales heads in Asia Pacific and US derivatives, plus nine additional roles across partnerships and operations. BMLL is positioning the move as a response to surging institutional demand for high-quality market data driven by AI development needs.

The hire reflects intensifying competition in the granular historical data market, where specialist vendors like BMLL face pressure from larger incumbents and exchanges selling proprietary products. Rivals are making similar plays. Trading Technologies named a chief revenue officer in April, while TP ICAP’s TraditionData brought in senior sales talent from London Stock Exchange Group the same month.
